Cant get 3d mode of build to work!
When i enter 3D mode, all i get is the white pointer on black screen.
ALso when try to press V twice to change textures, they are all blank and i cannot see them. I know there is something suss going on because the names of the textures appear, but the whole 3d mode and textures i cant see.

You need to copy all of the files from the Goodies Folder on the Duke3d CD to you Duke3d folder with the Read-Only thing disabled. Then it should work fine.

Um... Why are you using the old one? That's obviously one of your problems.
Use Jonof's build! Forget about the goodies section!

Build 3D mode problem
I dont have my Duke3d CD anymore, can anyone zip and send the goodies folder to me ...
That reminds me. I seem to have lost the computer that I'm currently using. Would somebody please buy one and send it to me? Just kidding.
I'm really amazed at the number of people who have "misplaced" their Duke CDs. I've gotten E-mails from people who write sad stories about how their dog ate it, or how they let their friend borrow it forever. I mean no disrespect to the honest folks out there, but come on! I don't understand why it's so difficult to keep track of a CD.
So what's your story, duker? I can't wait to hear this one.

I've seen many stories like you describe, but it wasn't until now I realized so many ppl have lost it. It's SCARY!
EDIT: YOU DON'T NEED THE GOODIES FROM THE CD!!!! JONOF'S BUILD INCLUDES EVERYTHING NEEDED!

I'm so loyal to Duke I haven't even lost the Atomic Retail CD.
The only thing that annoys me is; why Duke Nukum and Duke Nukem II were not included in the Atomic as they were in the Original 1.3D Version Retail CD?

Yes, but in recent years, the amount has been negligible.

Some people own more than a few Cd's.. At one point i had 2 Cd shelves completly full of CD's (well over 100 cd's just on the shelves, each held 60 cd's or so) and i still had extra cd's in drawers because i couldn't fit them anywhere else. With that many Cd's, its easy to lose track of things and even forget what you have. And admitted, i cared alot more about the condition of certain games than others. At the time, duke was pretty much fizzled out when it came to general popularity (i played dukematch alot, no players = no duke match), and wasn't as important as say my brand new 4 cd set for ut2k3 i had, so the newer games took priority and the older games just got put wherever i could find space for them. Alot of my older cd's got broken this way, or i would let people barrow the game and never get it back etc..
Fact is, when you have alot of CD's, and most hardcore gamers do, you cant keep up with all of them all the time, so your going to pay more attention to a new game you just payed 50+ dollars for than the old Duke CD collecting dust. Until recently with the new duke ports, there was no real reason to care about the duke CD. It was an old game that was inferior to new games, and no one played it online any more. You can only beat the single player missions so many times. Old games have a way of getting lost or broken because frankly, they arnt important anymore.

Of course the $50 you paid back when you bought Duke counts for nothing now, right?

And when that happens, tough bikkies. Consider the CD/floppy you hold as your license to play the game. No original, no excuse.
