Duke Nukem 64 Engine
- Hi, I'd like to ask what engine do Duke Nukem 64 (port of Duke3d for Nintendo 64) use. :)
I don't think is build because it has true look up and down and 3d poligonal models, btw the new levels are great :o, so if (goodness with me) i can view them in an editor, how i can dump files on a z64 rom? :P Re: Duke Nukem 64 Engine
Here is answer
1. you should read about what is port
2. N64 game remakes are difrent programing (if it be that simple
i am shure some one would make an Duke Nukem 64 mod for
PC Duke 3D atomic and reverse Duke 3D atomic mod for Duke
Nukem 64)
3. Hmm it would be nice to have split scren on pc version of duke
and thoes weapons... :P- you're right, actually "port" was the wrong name because isn't the same duke3d, but more like a remake!
so there isn't a way to edit those maps, well, that was good before it lasted! bye! - Wikipedia says:
The Nintendo 64 version, Duke Nukem 64, has a split screen 4-player mode as well as bi-linear filtered textures, however it is still at its core using the Build engine and the only elements rendered in real 3D are some of the explosions.
I actually doubt this is true. I'm more inclined to think it has a totally original engine under its hood on the N64, yeah. - Yes, it's true, everything about the sprites is in real 3d, even the explosions are modeled, and the final boss, the one eye emperor is modeled too
- Sory guys byt you are wrong its simple to take every sprite and convert it for difrent format and create engine that mimics build have you played Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance on pc its runing by emulation and this emulation is not perfect on manny computers game crush or grafics are dead
thera are 11 difrent Duke Nukem 3D and only mack version is the same as PC all others are difrent have you see PSX version there are only map files and every of them contains neded sprites music and hole data think if JF totaly convert grafics sound phisics would it be the same build?... it will be a difrent engine
PS: sory if my language is odd but i am steal learning - Looks like DN64 isn't build engine, but not because of polygonal renderer. JFDuke and EDuke32 also have this renderer. But DN64 engine is similar to DN3D engine because of glitches :)
- Did you actually play Duke Nukem 64? If you did than you would see that it uses :o >MODAFIED< :o Build engine.
As for getting the maps you could probably try to learn about N64 roms and hacking them. Good luck. ;)
