I did a search for Playwang and nothing I found helped for this problem.
In short, the only way I can play SW through PlayWang is if I click the "Save and Play" button in the configuration window of PlayWang. I can't play any of the conversions or maps.
Am I doing something wrong? I'm just learning this stuff.

Re: Need Help w/ PlayWang
Did you read the official documentation?.

Actually I did. When I click "Play Wang" a Dos windows appears asking to choose a config file (Playwang.cfg or sw.cfg.) Either way the window disappears and the game does not intialize.
Unless I proceed as previously mentioned.

There's no such thing as a "Play Wang" button in PlayWang, actually there's no "Save and Play" button either. Weird thing you got there pal, I can't help. I couldn't even reproduce it by modifying/moving/deleting the config files and PlayWang.exe itself.
My safe best is that you downloaded a very old version of PlayWang.

Let me rephrase... I downloaded and installed PlayWang from Total Conversions. I installed the program into a directory called "psw." In that directory there are several exe files; PlayWang, Setup, SW and SWP.
When I run PlayWang I run into the problem afore mentioned. When I click "Play SW" I run into the previously mentioned problem. Same with "Play Conversion" and "Play User Map."
The only way to play I've found is through running Setup and clicking "Save and Run SW"
Does that help?

Hmm, try this:
1. Delete EVERYTHING in your psw folder except for other folders, build.exe and GRP/RTS files.
2. Download the RAR file above (it contains the latest PlayWang.exe, swp.exe sw.exe and setup.exe) and extract the contents to the psw folder.
3. Run setup.exe, create a config, save it and exit the setup without launching the game.
4. Run PlayWang and tell me if something changed.

If you already have a PlayWang folder, rename it or kill it. Download Playwang from: http://www.proasm.com/files/sw/PlayWangSetup.zip Unzip to any folder and execute the PlayWangSetup.exe It will install itself to C:\PlayWang
All the files you need will be there except the Sw.Grp which you must copy from your current SW folder into the PlayWang folder. This setup comes with everything including 2 TC's and 18 User maps.
Do NOT copy anything else into the PlayWang folder, ONLY the SW.GRP which should be approx 47 megs in size.
