Hey everyone, I'm new here. I just got the JFDuke3D for my Atomic Edition, and it's working AWESOMELY so far, so good job there. My only beef is that there's no music! Not a big deal, the game runs flawlessly, but I always loved the Duke 3D score and was hoping to hear it again. I did some research (by using the search bar here, I'm a master detective) and found out the .GRP file used redbook CD audio, so there's no music files for it to search out.
Now, my question is, is there any sort of music pack I could download to make it work with the .GRP install? Some sort of file I can get or a workaround I can put into it to find the music files? Any help is appreciated.

Master detective my arse, your research turned out to be a complete failure ;D
All the music played within the game is contained in the GRP as midi files, the only redbook track to be found in the DN3DAE cd is "Grabbag", Duke's theme song.
If you don't get music for the windows port (no idea about other platforms), it's probably a bad config or a sound driver conflict.

Do MIDI files play normally in your system? if not, you should check what MIDI out device is selected on the Sounds and Audio Devices control panel. Choose Microsoft Software Synth. if the others don't work.

THE INTERNET HAS ONCE AGAIN FAILED ME! :D I guess I was misinformed about that. In this case I guess I'm not sure what to do. I tried all the various sound card options I was presented, including Microsoft Software Synth, and none of them work. I generally can get MIDI files to play in Windows Media Player, however, so I don't think the problem lies with being able to play MIDIs.

Can you post the log?

Gladly, if you'd show me where to look. I'm sorry I'm being such a noob about this.

duke3d.log
It's in the Duke3D installation folder, same folder you extracted the JFDuke3D zip to.

This should be it. I had to make it a .txt file so it'd upload.

Other than perhaps sound settings being a lil too low-end for today's standards, I didn't spot anything likely to be related to the problem you're experiencing. Would you mind posting your config?

Hey, because I'm sure you were all so concerned, I got it. Had to reinstall a lot of my sound driver codecs, and that seems to have fixed it. Now that I can enjoy Duke 3D the way it was supposed to be (to the strains of "Grabbag") I should hopefully have occasion to post here more often.
