Recently, I've been struck by an urge to start playing Shadow Warrior again, and came across this port. I got everything set up and running, but when I actually start the game, it's unplayably slow, right from the 3D Realms logo, and forget about even exiting the game via the menu. The delay is so bad that I literally went to my kitchen for water and the little yin-yang finished moving the three spaces I told it to as I sat down. I can't seem to find any other posts about it on the forum, unless a fix is hidden somewhere in some other post I haven't run across. Anyone have any idea how to increase the speed?
Note that I'm using 7's XP Mode, which may have an effect.
Cheers,

Re: SWP running extremely slowly
Why on earth would you be using XP mode for a program which runs natively on 7? Yes, XP mode's lack of hardware accelerated graphics is certainly your problem.

Excellent! Worked like a charm. I guess I'm just used to naturally assuming things won't run correctly on 7. Only problem now is the damn lines all over the screen!
Thanks, man!

Check in the Screen Settings and make sure you using 32 BPP with at least 1024x768. Are you using the HRP ? If not download it here: http://www.proasm.com/files/sw/Sw_Hrp_v21.zip Unzip the file into your Sw folder so that the Sw_Hrp.zip file is there.

I just tried using those exact settings, 1024x768 32 BPP, and it does the same thing, as does the default (1280x1024?) and my native resolution, 1680x1050, all 32 BPP. And yes, I am using the HRP.
To more specifically describe the problem, it's sort of like watching an old VCR tape, if it's dirty or worn, and you get those flashing lines all over your movie?
Thanks for the suggestion though, if only it had worked!

As a matter of interest, are you using an ATI graphics card ?
