Whats the difference between SW and D3D?

  Is there any difference between SW and D3D? Isn't it just another mod? Could someone tell me if it is, what is it?

  Uh.. everything. They are entirely different games. What is the difference between Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament? Isn't it just another mod?

  SW doesn't use your 3D card and will render the game as intended, and D3D uses your 3d card but only works and only made available in windows.

  Oh... I thought that SW is still using .GRP file system and has the same map editor as D3D... :/

  SW is a game based off the same engine.

  the wolfeinstein remake was based off the quake3 engine but it wasnt a mod. It was a entirely different 1st person shooter. Samething with SW.

  So nothing new. I was asking about practical aspect of the case! Not some gameplay... Like if i can make more advanced maps in SW (multiple level building or something) or it has real 32bit textures...
  
  I dont really care if the game is better or if your character speaks chinese instead of english!
