To all people who want to play Duke Nukem or Shadow Warrior on-line (or, in fact, even have a single player front-end), there has been for some time a front-end which can be used for creating and joining rooms (similar to Dukester X and Dukonnector). It's called Yet Another Netplay Guider, or more commonly YANG. It supports several DN3D and SW source ports including the original DOS versions (if you've got DOSBox), and works natively on Windows and Linux, at least. OS X can't really tested by me alone as I haven't got the hardware. 64-bit Linux users - YANG works as a native 64-bit executable.

Re: Yet another netplay guider (YANG)
After quite a long time, a bigger-than-usual update, numbered as version 0.53, has been released. Link is provided in my signature. Please read the YANG FAQ before asking any questions. Available from the same page as the files to download.

Nice effort this - well done ;)

Hey ProAsm and thanks :D
Now version 0.54 has been released. Link is in my signature.
BTW, although it had 1 player according to what I saw, I could see a Duke3dw room yesterday :D

Version 0.57 has been released.

Version 0.58 has been released. Now you should be able to select the player color if you're using SWP. Regarding the game type, this is expected to be supported after another update to the server list software.
ny00123 at
Version 0.60 has been released. If you're using SWP, there's now a game type setting (e.g. Wangbang). It works on Win98SE (again), though you may need to install an MSLU library, if not already installed (see my website). Also, there's now a packaged Mac OS X application bundle, compiled and packaged by Turrican.
People who had problems with hosting (unrelated to port forwarding), I asked Replica to move the server lists to a different port number. Lets hope it solves the issues...
See the news for more details.

A few requests if possible.
It would be nice if Yang remembered what the 'Create Room' configuration was for each selection. For instance, whether you select eduke32, Duke3dw or xDuke. In other words it remembers the Room name, Skill, Playernum, Extra Args, Use Master/Slave, Addons selected etc.. for each selection.
Duke3dw as of version 413 (next release) now like SWP also has a startup color option using the command /col x Where x: 0 = Auto 9 = Blue 10 = Red 11 = Olive 12 = White 13 = Grey 14 = Green 15 = Brown 16 = Navy 23 = Yellow

Hey, I've heard about the color argument in Duke3dw, and thought about that.
Now, that was long... well, version 0.70 has been released. Thanks to Turrican for the effort.
Out of this effort, maybe the most important thing is: Blood support! Yes, it may seem surprising after all this time, but it has happened. All you need is Blood and the DOSBox emulator.
There are also a few UI changes made by Turrican, related to the addition of Blood in some way.
For more details, see the website in my signature.

Updated version 0.72 is now up. Duke3dw users should be able to select a player color, a few changes were made so the GOG.com release of Duke3D should be recognized, and Mac users should hopefully be able to use application bundles (like DOSBox.app) as expected.

Version 0.80 has been released. The main addition, again thanks to the efforts of Turrican, is support for Descent 1 and 2.

This is looking very good ;) Just a few minor items (nit picking :) ) Once you have selected a gametype, lets say Duke3dw and you have browsed to say D:\Buildgames\Duke3dw\Duke3dw.exe now you need to setup and browse to your Maps and Games folders which 95% of the time will be off the main folder but in Yangs case its starts with Documents and Settings etc... Could you not make that it at least starts where you found the main exe as above. I have always cursed Borland's CPPBuilder for this as when you setup your enviroment paths, and even if you have 20 or so, everytime Borland starts you off in 'My Computer' which is very annoying :) Although Yang now has a nice new icon, the forms still show the old one (maybe intentional?) Otherwise it works great ;)

The "new" icon is a known bug :P
Regarding the user maps dir, you can change it in the source port settings. I've done it in this way by default so it works as expected in case a game is installed somewhere in Program Files (for instance) where only a user with Admin privileges can write to it.

Version 0.81 has been released. This is mainly a bug fix release. One example you may have noticed in version 0.80 is the wrong icon set for the Windows executable :P

Version 0.82 has been released. One major change, which you can read a bit more about in my website, is the YANG contents being moved to their own page. Link: http://yang-online.com/
The most notable change to v0.82, apart from that, is support for the new EDuke32 Server-Client multiplayer.
