Does any body know of a way to import the Duke Nukem maps from the PS version to the PC???
I remeber that the 4th episode was totatly different to the Atomic editions version.
They must be specialy coded or something like that?

don't know. probably yes if duke nukem on PS is also a port of the original BUILD source and not a new game . In a first time have you what is needed to rip the datas you need from your PS cd to your computer ? Which a bit chance you could maybe find something interesting...

i've looked into getting ps game data on my computer before. my computer had no trouble reading the cd and displaying the files but its all in strange unusual formats.

Here is a link to the first level of the forth episode. But what confussis me is that there are 5 folders for episodes. Which would mean that there has to be 5 episodes in the game yet there are only 4 on the main screen.
The map is in some .PMP format and alot bigger than normal map sizes.

if you rename the pmp to map does build recognize the format?

Well, if there's a significant size difference, then the PS1 coders probably did something weird to the maps. You should ask the makers of the game if they have some sort of conversion utility for their .PMP format.
EDIT: Did you compare the sizes of a map that both games have? Like E1L3 or something?

Hold on hold on - here's an idea..
Why don't you try it out

Just out of curiosity I tried it and it doesn't work. Considering that the file size it far bigger than my biggest map, which hits just about all of the limits, my guess is that the file contains more than just map data. Maybe you can try searching the pmp file for a map file header to see if it does contain standard map data or not.

Searching for the header was the first thing I did, to no avail. I suspect the file is some kind of a compiled format containing the map data and possibly the art needed for it.

Maybe... but did he help on anything at all for the conversion to the Playstation version?

There's a Playstation version? lol : P No, I don't know anything about it and I've never seen the game. I suspect the "port" team designed their maps from scratch using the tools included with Sony's development kit.
