Just installed the lastest build (dated Feb. 28th) but the game refuses to run in any combination of modes I set in the settings. i.e. - I disabled all sound options, tries lowering/raising the graphics options, etc. This is a clean install of the program too. The loading window flashes up, going through all the video modes, and then the screen changes to black for a second, acting like its going to load up, but then just blinks back to the desktop.
I'm running WinXP Pro SP1
P4 3.2 Ghz
1 GB RAM
ATI X800 Pro w/ 5.2 Catalyst drivers
SB Audigy2
Any ideas?

Check in your Duke folder and you'll find a consolelog.txt file - post it so we can see at what point the program failed.
Btw, if you have any form of Joystick or Gamepad installed, this crash will happen.
Remove it, start the game and put it back.

That must have been it - I took my joystick out and worked like a charm. Thanks!

There really needs to be a FAQ in the next realese......

Just to update - I've since plugged my joystick back in and can run jfDuke no problem now. I think its just on the first time you run the program that it crashes out, perhaps.

Naw, mine crashes everytime with my Gamepad, hence I had to remark out line 551 in winlayer.c and recompile.

I had never a crash with the newest release because of Joysticks, and i have always connected a Joystick or a Steering Wheel (or both of em). The problem is maybe only with some "special"-Sticks with 10 axis and 100 buttons :D
