Well, I did have a week head start since I helped Charlie to test and verify the source code he ultimately released, so I figured I might as well get cracking on the port while the pressure was off. 12 hours spread over two days later the port was running and then on-and-off over the remaining days of the week I was playtesting and fixing the crashes as they happened.

Wow!
Wow, this is awesome! I saw an announcement about the release of the SW source code, and the first thing I thought was "I wonder if there'll be a JonoF port of it?"
Can't wait to see all the features of the duke port in this new one!

The SW port works slick. No hyperjunk when using the remote control cars as mentioned in the release notes (but I'm running 800x600 8bpp).
Anyway I'm having a blast playing my favorite old game and look forward to the future updates with multiplayer & other tweaks and improvements.
Thanks for bringing back SW for me!

Yes jonof your my hero  now only if atari could release the blood source code all my dreams will have come true! (well not really) :D

I'm so happy with the port that I sent Jon $10!
If Jon adds a multi option...well lets just say that there's more where that came from

We are all aware of that bug and you would have been to if you had acctully read the Readme that came with JonoF port. Any way this tread explains more sorta.
Sorry to interrupt, I'm just wondering whats the current progress on the new version and if the multiplayer will be integrated. If you need to beta test the multiplayer coding you can always send me a PM ;)
I also was wondering if there was some similar projects like this one for Redneck Rampage 1/2 and Blood.
Thank you.

redneck rampage was a duke mod iirc so i can't imagine it would be that hard to recreate the features they added working from the duke source. especially if they released thier names.h (which its quite likely they did).

No it wasn't, as it didn't work with EDuke32, if it were a Duke Mod, Eduke could run it.
WW2GI was a Duke mod, it just got sold as a retail game :/
plugwash at
depends on your definintion of duke mod. what i mean is it uses duke style cons and is based on duke just like ww2gi was.
both ww2gi and redneck rampage did make source level changes the reason ww2gi is usable with eduke32 is because eduke is based on ww2gi

is the project discontinued or something?

absolutly, I'm sure JonoF has other things to do, but we need ay networked version soon or i gonna nuke and heatseak around in RealLife  (sure i'm not the only one)

Or even some status report, I haven't seen one in decades.

Here's the situation:
I can release a version of the port that only has fully-functional peer-to-peer multiplayer, but has broken master-slave and then answer emails forever from people who don't read documentation when they try running a game, or
I can wait and fix master-slave mode and then answer the occasional email from people who don't read documentation.
You choose.
Jonathon
Gargos at
I don't know what "master-slave" is but I'd rather wait.
I just wanted to know if it was still going, thanks Jonof.
Alien at
Master-slave is much easier to coordinate in multiplayer, because you only need the IP adress fom the server, in peer2peer you need the IP adress of every single client (there s no server at all), anyway....
why not release a "pre-beta-multiplayer-p2p-test-version", so we can do some Nuke-tests and Railgun shootouts with friends, until the master/slave code is writen
I'm sure those who really wan't to test it (like me), are able to write a simple batch-file with some IPs in it, if not....wait for the master/slave version :P

I think that could be a good idea. I dont have enough fingers to count how many months its been without an update of some sort. I dont mean to sound rude in anyway Jono.
