Me and two of my friends were playing JFDuke LAN yesterday. We only tried two maps, but with two very different results. We used master/slave mode, since we didn't get peer-to-peer working, because of a user error, most likely...
First Map: Stadium
Worked well for maybe half a minute, then the game went out of sync. It got out of sync so badly that we didn't see each other on the map. We tried restarting several times. Same thing happened every time.
Second map: L.A Rumble
Now this map was close to perfect. Everything was nice and smooth. We played this map for almost three hours and it worked perfectly all the time.
I hope this helps in improving the netcode. And if this is something you knew about already, I apologize for wasting your time

A report on JFDuke3D LAN play.
My friend and I tried coop. Couldn't get past the first level, it'd go out of sync after 5 minutes or so.
Though DM worked fine on the map... it's still go out of sync, but by the time it did we were sick of the level anyway :D
Probably has something to do with all those monsters. :D
