midi music in sw ?
- is it possibly to make sw/Jfsw use midi music instead of the cd music ?
i really would like to add some midi music in JFSW..
anyone ? - I had a brief look into this, because I also hate CD music in games!
You need to examine the source for the symbol SW_SHAREWARE as it determines whether or not to play CD or MIDI music at each point. Then you need to find the table (in game.c, IIRC) that gives the MIDI track names for each level. Then you can use the MIDI tracks from the "goodies" folder on the CD, plus make up the numbers with any old tracks for the registered levels - just give 'em the names that the table expects, or else change the table.
It's nothing that can't be done in theory, just needs a bit of work and I ran out of time. What I would like to do in an ideal world (i.e., if only there were enough hours in a day), is look for Japanese-sounding MIDI tracks that sound at least a bit like Lee Jackson's stuff.
SW is a great game but it sux for having no CON engine and no (registered version) MIDI music :( - You could grab Itunes and create a 13 track CD from your fav midis, but if you want this cd to be available from your HD, just dump it to a CD image/ISO (CloneCD would be ok for this task) and mount it using Daemon Tools before launching JFSW.
Midi in JFsw ?
thewn is it possibly for somebody to make jfsw use midi.
and then release the files so that other pepole can play with midi ?
i had the cd untill it fucked up.. and i really dont have the experience to make this work by myself so anyone ??midi music in sw ?
Something I intend to do soon is make JFSW handle music this way:- if CD audio and music is enabled, play the CD track if a disc is in the drive, or
- if music is enabled, try and play the midi file for the map, otherwise
- be silent
Jonathon- Cool! You rock!
Oh, and probably unnecessary for 99% of people, but the other 1% might complain: ability to disable CD music (separately from disabling MIDI music) even if there is a music CD in the drive. Just being careful :)
