You should try running the installation directly from DOS, just to see if there's an error message you won't see when you do so from the windows environment. Be sure to extract all the files contained in the zip to a folder before you go on.
Anyhow, ff you find the a .GRP file in the zip, extract it to the JFSW folder and you'll be set.

Anyway the 'sw.grp' should be on the cd shouldn't it? Like it is on Duke? Or if you have it in a zip it should be in the zip? Just install JFSW, find 'sw.grp' in your Shadow Warrior (original one) install place and put it in you JFSW directory. You don't need to install it, I know I cant install Duke on my comp because I'm running WinXP 64, I just take the .grp straight from the CD, but you might not be able to do that with SW, I dunno...

To answer MaxSchmerzlich04's original question:
The DOS installers don't work a lot of the time on new machines. Luckily, Shadow Warrior's installer is a bit more accomodating. When you unzip the 3DSW12.ZIP downloaded from 3DRealms' site, you get four files: FILE_ID.DIZ, INSTALL.EXE, LICENSE.TXT, and SWSW12.SHR. The last file (swsw12.shr) is the one we're interested in. Rename it to SWSW12.EXE and then run it. It's a self-extracting file that will unpack to give you the shareware game. SW.GRP is in there and you should copy that to the JFSW directory.

It's all in the SWINST dir on the CD, just as it is in the DN3DINST on the Duke CD.
if only he would have a cd...
he said he downloaded the shareware version :P

Shadow warrior registered version doesn't even use DOS at all, it uses a normal windows installer, why would the shareware version use only a dos installer?

Because it's a DOS game for systems at least running DOS :P

you should ask what a dos game is doing with a windows installer instead. if the game itself doesnt use windows, why would the installer? i know, the cd also contains a dos installer, but it still doesnt make sense.
