A while ago, I've discovered a method that can antialias primitives. Later I've had an idea to use similar method to resize 2D images, and now I'm extending this idea into 3D. This thing will probably be awesome in a true voxel engine, while this is just a quick prototype during my lack of knowlede about voxels.
So far it works good, and now I'm finally happy! One day I'll make a good engine out of this and show the world that a nice looking game can be made with voxels. Imagine an engine with "smooth voxels", speed of voxlap, and realtime effects which are voxel/pixel only - NOT polygon.
Even if my dream is still far away, this is the first step forward it.
Ken, if you're interested in implementing this in Voxlap, send me an email to duke4e@gmail.com The idea behind smooth voxels is really simple, so it might work in Voxlap
edit:
Here's the download link. Note that there is no raytracing or z-bruffer, so when rotating the camera there can be some weird artifacts. Also, camera controls are horrible. Use your mouse, WASD QE RMB LSHIFT and SPACE. Also, this version has better rendering than screenshots. If you want you can insert your heightmap, texture and sky - just replace the images and obey they format and dimensions.

Re: Smooth Voxels
pretty cool stuff. really makes voxels looking neat!
I can't run the demo (crashes on startup, but don't worry, it's really old pc). If this effect doesn't really slow down the whole stuff a lot, I can really see this being used in games.
thumbs up!

Works here, 47fps -> not bad but hehe its on a Intel Core Duo E6600 ^^.
