piano playing
- Ken,
aside from computer programmingyou say you play the piano well... What do you like best? Do you have an fovorite composer? Just curious what you're doing beside programming :-)
Sebastian - Ken, how did you learn piano playing?
Did you take some music classes (at home, or maybe in some kind of music school)?
Who taught you piano? Did anyone teach you (maybe the basics)?
Does anyone else in your family (someone of your parents, maybe) play? you say you play the piano well... What do you like best? Do you have an fovorite composer?
Yeah, me! : ) lol jk Didn't I mention Weird Al on my website? He writes some original music, so that counts, right? : ) Other stuff I like: old video game music, TV theme songs, and actually a few real songs that have a tune or melody. These are rare though.Ken, how did you learn piano playing? Did you take some music classes (at home, or maybe in some kind of music school)? Who taught you piano? I took 6 years of piano lessons from ages 6-12. I learned mostly classical stuff, which I found boring. In my free time, I would (and still do) try to play catchy songs that ran through my head, usually video game music or something from TV. My dad plays piano, but he only knows 2 chords... 3 if you count the F major chord that he plays only during "Oh Suzanna" : PEdited at- I played piano for a bit. I never got really far. I can play the theme song for "Crash Bandicoot" though.
- I can play piano, I just have a difficult time composing anything. I think there is some correlation between programming talent and musical talent.

I always thought it was penmenship (my handwriting sucks ass)- I never took any piano lessons myself, and dislike reading sheet music, although I can play some basic music by figuring out what the correct sounding notes should be in my head. I really should try to play more, since the piano sits mostly unused (and in need of tuning) in the family room. I've thought of picking up a midi keyboard as well, since that way I could hook it up to a computer and play at night with headphones without disturbing others. : ) I have had a small, partial keyboard for years, but it is rather old, and lacks a midi interface and many other advanced features. I think it would be useful for prototyping ideas for music tracks for any games I make. Hmm... I wonder if there happen to be any DDR style games for use with midi keyboards. It might be fun to program one. : D
- I tried to play in a band... :)
Although I took piano lessons for 3 years when I was in primary school,
I mostly like guitars (acoustic/electric/bass).
Unfortunately becoming a rock star is still just a dream...lol
